TADA68 Advice

#1
Hi TH,

Looking for some advice...

I have recently purchased the TADA68 with Gateron Silent Reds and the ALU case.

As I do love how Silent the switches are I think I still prefer my POK3R keyboard with Cherry MX Reds.

From my understanding, the switches are soldered in so you can't just pull them out and change them?

Is reselling worth it for Mech Keyboards?

Yes the switches should be soldered in and desoldering is not much fun without the right tool (desoldering station) and you risk breaking the pcb

Also why don't you like the silent reds?

I thought so, it would be easier to get a new board I would imagine.

The Silents Reds don't have the spring I like, no click at all.

Great for office use and home use so you don't get shanked for continual noise.

If you don't like the switches, you have three options:
1. Desolder and resolder new switches.
2. Get a new tada68 PCB and solder on new switches. The PCB for this model is pretty available.
3. Sell it and get a whole new keyboard.

The PCB is available for $55 at kbdbans.

I'm going for option 3.

Just going to keep my POK3R and might look at another board down the track.

Thanks for the advice
