Alps appreciation thread

ALPS will always have a special place in my heart.
My first vintages were m0115 and m0116 that I restored.

They felt great. I preferred oranges over salmons.

It was the first board I built, and switch mod.
I converted a bunch of damp cream alps into clickies and added tactility using the leaf mod.
I had to solder in diodes and switches which was the first time I ever did that.

I still have this board for sentimental reasons, it's a very beautiful board to type on. Looking to sell it on to another alps beginner/enthusiast to get started on this journey.
Looking to do an endgame alps build with the paladin PCB. Looking to trade some holy pandas for brown alps. PM me

Anyone else into alps? What have you built?

Got some brown alps, very clean. Expensive but.... feel so good. Spent about a year and half tracking these babies down, and now I have them I feel empty......wallet.

alps are good yeah
"good" depends on what you like. Alps tend to get dirty and therefore have the bad feels. IF you have a clean source, and condition of the switches are good, AND if you like AEK style caps which are the easiest to find, then yes, ALPS is one of the best :) But there's a lot of ifs....

A pretty good Alps summary, imo. With more people understood about them needing to be clean.

People ultrasonic the housings. I've not done this before though. I just used a brush and isopropyl, most of my switches were pretty clean to begin with.
